Question for people who run D&D games over skype or discord, uh, does it work well?

4 to 5 people always seems to be the max

Never, ever go above six players. That's the absolute limit, and even that's stretching it. Three to five is my recommendation.

4-5 is usually the best. But obviously the more people the more to keep track of for the DM.

5 players is ideal. Less is okay, more is not. Gets too cluttered and confusing.

i think its generally agreed upon that 3-5 players and a dm is the most ideal group size for playing. i think you could get away with 6 players too but after that it starts getting hectic
-
even then a 6 player group should probably be reserved for a dm who has a good amount of experience dming and is comfortable with it and ideally some if not most if not all of the players are experienced too

For ANY D&D game I would say 4 people is a decent party size. Any more and it starts to get difficult to manage and control.

Are you going to DM a game? Can I get in on this?

4 to 5. It's the weet spot of fun/chaos. At 4 you think you might need one more, at 5 you think you might need one less.
