And now with this recent deep-dive on the aching, pointed complexity of Neon Genesis Evangelion and it's stark portrait of depression and problematic sexuality. They helped shape all these pieces with such dedication and care. Gotta say it felt the same on our end too, at least for me! It was like a worlds-colliding moment but in the most wonderful sense. I hope y'all keep collaborating in the future <3

On point. For me it was the sheer arbitrary nature of the survival mechanics that ruined RDR 2 for me in retrospect.I thought “Why go through all that trouble developing such a realistic engine, only to have your main character be able to replace sleep with a shit ton of cigars?”

Once one game mechanic becomes arbitrary, everything just fell apart—donating to the camp, bonding with your horse, cooking unique meals—Something as simple as HAVING to sleep (to save for example) or HAVING to eat real food would’ve helped immensely with immersion.

I loved that article. Very long, but so good. I didn't actually played RDR2, but my roomate did and I watch her playing a lot. For me the biggest problems with the game was the repetition of the mission and having to follow the story with Dutch (god, I hated that guy).
