"The Dark Knight..." OMG don't you dare that is a masterpiece of comic book cinema the MCU could *never*! "...Rises". Carry on.
-
Haha, I actually like both movies!

Begins feels like a Batman film made by Nolan, TDK feels like a Nolan movie with Batman in it, and TDKR felt like Nolan was ready to be done with comic book films and was sprinting towards the finish line.
-
TDKR feels to me like Nolan was deliberately testing how outrageous and wacky he could get within his idiom, kind of like how Raimi's ARMY OF DARKNESS doesn't hang together as well as EVIL DEAD II but is still worth the watch.

I feel like this exact same article could be written about THE PHANTOM MENACE. I mean that as a compliment.

Thank you for articulating why the fire bat signal on the building is so misplaced in this movie (I could *picture* Batman buying oil and a giant paintbrush at Walmart) Also, that terribly choreographed rooftop fight that looks like an 80s show. So camp.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW2tMntp120 …

There's even a moment where one of Bane's goons makes a move towards Batman and without getting hit, takes a dive.

This is also why I still love Batman and Robin -- although, you can definitely make the argument that the campiness there is too self aware, and I'm gonna admit some of my enjoyment comes from the tears of too serious fanboys.pic.twitter.com/j0XqEDKoJO

I unironically enjoy Forever. It combines the camp with a genuinely interesting arc for Batman. The arc is muddled in the final cut of the film, but it still works well enough.
