And Chernobyl! Watchmen will probably be looked at in retrospect as a great attempt with a somewhat iffy landing, but I would not trade the 8 weeks of DYING FOR MORE WATCHMEN and discussion for ANYTHING. It was awesome to have appointment viewing again.

Netflix has been trying to get around this by just randomly splitting seasons to get two of those hype cycles. Like current Bojack, She-Ra S2, Baki and Kengan Ashura. But it just backfires massively. At least for me it just made me be angry every time they announce anything now

I was under the impression that splitting up those shows into oddly-numbered seasons was actually to get new eps out faster, not for the hype cycle. I'm pretty sure some of the staff on Voltron explicitly said that, though you could argue they could avoid that need w/weekly eps
