I first saw him on VH1 in the 80s and was like well I guess old people and yuppies like him?

I liked his MSNBC simulcast. Watching an old cranky guy joke about the news was better for me as someone who wasn't a morning person and hated getting up early for school, then Today or Good Morning America.

The ironic thing is is that Stern basically went the same route he did but was way more successful at it. Imus did all the pranky stuff Stern later did but when he got older he did more interviews and particularly did a lot of political stuff.

Imus was entertaining but ultimately did more harm than good. This is coming from a guy who loved him then was embarrassed by him later.
