There are so many articles & op-eds out there about the damage the current iteration of #AB5 is doing to California freelancers that I've decided to pull them all together into one thread. I'll continue to add as new pieces get published about this anti-freelancer law. #AmendAB5

I imagine the work culture is completely different, but from a European point of view the legislation feels really mild. In Spain to be a legal freelancer you need to have no dependency of any of your individual employers.

Spain has a sky high unemployment rate. Last year there was a celebration over it dipping to 15%. Those are Depression level rates of unemployment.

And still lower levels of poverty, inequality, homelessness... than in the US. Employment rate doesn't tell the whole story. Transforming jobs into bad jobs is worse than having higher unemployment rate.

Speaking of "the whole story," it's only worse if there are social protections in the system, which America is in dire need of. Please stop comparing. I insist.
