I think it's way more implying, "she's a woman who sees that she injures other people" vs. not seeing the damage kinda thing.
Great article. I remain a huge fan of the book, which didn't (obv) have the Brad Pitt problem vis a vis wanting to be Tyler, but still has the "angry young man" problem.

You wrote a more nuanced essay on Fight Club. Not that I completely agree, but at least didn’t boil down to saying anyone who likes or has liked it simply doesn’t know better. The intent seemed clear to me, as Tyler was presented as unhinged and dangerous, however “cool.”
Also, when rereading your essay, I thought about A Clockwork Orange having recently read after seeing film years ago. And then first comment mentions it too! But seems appropriate not just re tone, but the last chapter being left out of the movie because thought would ruin it.
