Today in design hell: Has anyone else had chrome change recently where it's now putting clock icon-ed past searches at the top instead 1) possible results 2. past sites you actually go to? HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS A CHOICE THAT WAS MADE.

Everytime I talk about these issues I get someone giving me a link to extension that fixes the problem (at least for now). My problem is this creates this ongoing game of cat and mouse. Where we expect these institutions to keep pushing bad design for their own agenda-

And only those who can temporarily out-tech it go another day, while the rest of the world shrugs and buys in. I don't know. It all makes me feel cynical. I care a lot about this. I'm not sure how many others do.

But I'll say this as a last note. Think about how we all fight for time. Hours, minutes, and seconds of a day, for them to be healthy, peaceful, and good for our mental health. Now think about how much of our day is spent using said tech. ... Most of it. The minutes matter.

I studied UI in University, and I find a lot of the "improvements" made just re-modelling user experience to be akin to the best-seller. Games resemble Clash of Clans, Social media resembles Facebook. It's an ugly morphology that hinders helpful tech.

Bright white centre scrolling for example (Twitter/Facebook/Games Magazines) is hell on those of us with ocular sensitivity - and red/green for down/up is hell on RG colourblind.
