Even the basic idiocy of having your morning alarms be regarded as "other alarms" tells you everything you need to know about the people who make these choices and design this shit. God I have switch away from Apple. They're making every disastrous design choice now.

To be clear, the bedtime alarms are off. What I don't want is a giant glaring stupid thing that takes up half my screen telling me I SHOULD HAVE BED TIME ALARMS on, especially when I need to be constantly using the other ones.

Steve Jobs was an absurd maniac, but he was also obsessive about this kind of thing. Tacky and obtrusive design was the bane of his existence. And Apple's success was partially built on it. But with every passing year...

Apple has gotten further and further away from that core ethos. It started slight, but every time I look there is some glaring, insane, obviously horrid design choice that you just tell no one ever raised questions about it, and if they did, they were railroaded by the wrong ppl.

It's the reason going from your text to you camera roll used to be one click and is NOW FIVE. Again, they think they are giving your more options, what they are giving you is more hoops.

also everyone saying "it's just one extra click" is missing the whole point. One extra click might as well be two more. It should be 1 click and right to the all-photos photo grid.

it's five extra clicks every five minutes and only takes five years off your life!

yea, i still have yet to actually hit the photo button and get the photo i want. I always hit the camera, woops, not that one, then the photos, dang it's an older photo, hit all photos, scroll... etc etc

i’m not an Apple defender, but I don’t understand this issue. I use the Photos app to get to Recent photos (it stays on Recents, cause I never use a different album). then I use the Camera button in Control Center to take pictures. I didn’t even know “All Photos” was there.

7 times out of 10 I want to select a photo that is not the most recent (and I take a lot of photos) usually because Im trying to get a damn good one. Which is why the camera button is effectively useless. The first attempt is usually garbage and I dont want to stop there.

To use it effectively, I have to switch to the camera app, which is actually a pretty simple switch that allows me to take the picture I want and edit the picture there.

Maybe this is just photography / filmmaker ppl talking, but I want to be able to use the apps that are good at their actual purposes.

yeah, it seems like just different ways of thinking about workflow or something. I just associate the Camera with “taking” and Photos with viewing and “editing”.
