"We don't know how to color this so we're just going to leave it in Log C." -every music video from 2010-2013

I have no idea what this thread is about but I really really wanna know
-
How to put it... the alexa captured information in "log c" - which effectively put information and detail capture in normal ranges so that the information would be safe from blown out extremes and manipulate-able later.

Respectfully, “Years” might be pushing it, at least for those of us who work in post. Alexa was fire right out of the gate if you knew what you were looking at.
-
Also, yay for color talk.

If I close my eyes, I can still see the blue-hue digital video of the millions of shallow DOF videos shot on 5D's. Including my own.

Still happens here in the UK on advertisements. As you say, spent ages trying to figure out what was wrong with my TV then realized they just never budgeted for a colorist.

Huh? This is why you convert color spaces. By “every” music video you mean low budget ones that shot in log but on cheap cameras like the ones you were using. Nobody was confused by log who was working on professional productions.
-
Cheap ones like I was using? The alexa was literally top of the line and brand new and the most expensive camera on the market. And "who was working on professional productions" wow you can fuck right off. You're coming off like a clueless, judgmental, asshole.
