I've talked about the absurd falsehood "ignore them" mantra before. What talking about this is trying to do is what ALL dialogue tries to do: foster awareness of the issue. Fostering awareness is never the problem. NEVER. Don't fall for it.https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/12/17561768/dont-feed-the-trolls-online-harassment-abuse …

There's pretty damned solid research that media hysteria around mass shootings feeds further mass shootings. So, movies aren't the problem. YOU are the problem. https://psychiatryonline.org/doi/pdf/10.5555/appi.books.9781615371099 …

Ahem. I don't have enough time to get into the problems of a study that calls mass shootings "a rare event," but it is also about the dangers of sensationalism and how media coverage glorifies the shooters, further feeds shootings. To that...

That's the exact problem critics are bringing up with the film w/r/t to sensationalizing the same acts of murder. So it's not hysteria and coverage itself, it's the how and why, which is the whole point of everything being discussed.

There isn't any evidence at all that this is a problem. There is, however, evidence that how media reports on mass shootings feeds further mass shootings. Be a mass shooter and you're guaranteed infamy.

Stop stoking moral panic without evidence. 'Literally 100 papers on this topic'. Bullshit.
