Someone who can't identify the basic differences between john wick and joker is not someone I really am interested in telling me what's interesting about the joker. I don't think he knows. Just what he's attracted to. Same goes for some of the audience.

I think people are looking too much into something Philips said without much thought in an interview (which happens a lot) and don't think it is representative of how he tells the story of the Joker.
