And on some level, they *know* most manual labor / low-wage work is harder. That's why they don't do it. But that's when you realize they're saying this as a cover for the fact that what they *really* want to go back to saying is that "certain types of people have their roles"

The monster of phrenological thinking hangs over the entire thing. It's sickening, especially when it's subconscious in them. But then it all just gets wrapped up in the tribalism and talking points and we miss the intended, haunting, racist thought at the center of it.
