When trying to tell a story built around emotional impact, is it better to have the theme of your story telegraphed clearly (ala Charlie Kaufman) or to take an approach that’s more subtle (something like Lynne Ramsay) to reach the viewer?

Hmm... even in a subtle story, would you say that the moment of revelation requires more clarity for the audience to arrive at emotional closure? or is it fine to still ride under the radar as it was with the rest of the film? And thank you so much for responding. Love your work!

Depends on the story, honestly. But the emotional impact should be felt most of all.
