The entire first one was about Spiderman and the father figure, Tony Stark. The second one is about the death of father figure Tony Stark and replacing him on the world stage. Also, Nick Fury and Skrulls. Yeah, I'm sure we won't notice a thing.

Blame FFH. Sony doesn’t need the MCU connection anymore. Peole love this Spider-Man and are desperate for a sequel. They’ll watch it even if it isn’t in the MCU

I think continuing the series without MCU connections won’t be as awkward as people think. If Sony tries to jam Venom into it, though, things could get weird fast
