Spiderman: Far From Home - Liked it more than Homecoming! Conflicts are focused and character-centric. As always, lots of little beats I liked. Zendaya is MVP. These films sort of feel like the most light on their feet, to both good and ill. But-

While the post credits make THE BEST CASTING DECISION OF ALL TIME, I was also more rankled then ever by the plot-punting and revisionism to what we just saw. I reeeaaaaally feel like it undermines something / the relationships, etc.

It's just more interference and getting us to question about what's next, rather then even having a second to enjoy digesting what we just saw. But it's the MCU way. Move move move. Don't sit still. While at the same time kind of changing nothing. Perpetual inertia.

Oh I just want to keep reiterating that the MCU refuses to really engage with consequences to the things they set up. "The Blip" was just that. A blip. There's no real meaningful exploration. Just "huh, that's weird!" and the party goes on conveniently.

That's my impression of western superhero comics from reading some. Lots of action and pace, nothing stands still, but not much permanent progression.

100% but for me personally, I think in the world in which we now live Marvel has become my happy place. In other times I’d demand more from these films. But they’ve become a salve to the sad reality that we now inhabit. Exact same thing that drew me to comics many moons ago.

Not sure I made my point clear here, I just meant that they feel a bit like ‘home’ and in the same way you forgive your family’s failings, something you know well can be a tonic. Even though it’s not necessarily the best thing for you. Big Fan x

Really would've liked to, I guess, breathe by the end of it, like in Iron Man Three.
