I'm sorry, I really really really really really feel like this ignores the entire point of Sorry To Bother You.

I’m not ignoring it. I’m taking it into account and making a statement! Worth considering that to a point be def participated in FYC activity during awards season last year and that too is the antithesis of punk. But there he was! And good for him!

But the crux of this isn't punk, it's anti-capitalism. The entire movie is about how buying into the line of thinking of "get your money" is a trap that enslaves you into de-humanizing capitalist system instead of doing your outsider art. Award recognition is separate from that?

I swear im not trying to harp on this, Im just saying the movie makes it really really clear you cant live inside it without being compromised and it takes outsider overhaul. And everythinf he talks about backs this up?

Sorry to clarify, Im not directing this at boots, Im talking about the way a lot of people started cheerleading for him to do something I think went against the personal message he was trying to put out without seeing the irony. And im saying this as a “in the system person”

To extend the metaphor, it felt like “yeah take that job high up on that floor!” which the movie argues is a trap.

Ill put it this way, I think theres a mountain of difference between a scrappy no budget indie and working for the mouse and marvel. But ill leave it there. Gotta run. Be well
