Quick Thread: I always see people throwing out the phrase "punch up, not down" and I have a weird problem with it because here's the thing... A lot of times that's exactly what they think they're doing.

Their idea of punching down (by targeting minorities due to thinking those minorities secretly controlling everything is the ultimate working example of the fascistic ideal of "make your enemies seem weak but strong".

My sister recommended a book to me that gave me a lot of tools to understand people who thought differently from me (not always in a bad way) - The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt. Would recommend, you’ve basically summarized it in tweets
