Always. It used to be a lifetime ban. They got the "MSM" worked down to 12 months, which still effectively prevents.

And here I am not having sex with anyone but I have a found needle pit in my house and apparently that's fine, at least I'm not gay! US legislature is a joke.

They do also say not to give if you've been stuck by a needle

But if you are in the closet, you would get the same treatment and testing as all blood is required. So there is no scientific/medical requirement for the ban.

Same thing in Brazil. I used to donate regularly. Then I started to have an active sexual life, so now I can't. "Fuck people in need of donation, I'm not even looking at you."

From GLAAD: "1 in 3.1 million units of blood infected with HIV will make it past the screening test." From the Red Cross: 13.1 million units are used per year in the US. 1.1 million people in the US have HIV. So if they all gave blood proportionally, that's only 48,000 units.

Right, and they already directly tell HIV+ people to refrain from donating, so the actual number would be much lower - people who don't know they're HIV+ or who decide to donate anyway

Also-women who sleep with or have ever slept w/bisexual men or men who have had sexual encounters w/other men. And if you’ve gotten tattooed recently. So I will, essentially, NEVER be able to donate. Chances are? I will have done something above.
