Booksmart: super fun, specific, vivacious, and was way weirder than I was expecting (which I love). Directed with incredible flair. Script makes mostly right choices but needs to focus on some of the set-up / pay-offs. Also feels like it shoulda been a private school movie? But-

Talking to friends and we're all just glowing about it. One re: the editing and the way stylistic choices comes out of character not the other way around. And re: editing, not to mention it's a tight 1 hour and forty minutes!

Okay! I’m not off base then. I also loved it but felt there were some characters that show up to pay off storylines that I felt only had one scene previously?

The entirety of Nick’s party is the best thing I’ve seen in movies all year

Really appreciated how surprisingly positive it was about everyone -- no stock bully characters or jerks getting their comeuppance, just a bunch of dumb kids trying to figure things out

I love that it mostly avoids the pitfalls of gross humor and secondhand embarrassment that usually turn me off of these kinds of films.
