I like the idea, but the 100% precent cheated the dramatization then just sat around as he made jokes. It's wholly representative of my problems with a lot of these movies. The meaningful stuff ends up all being cheating lip-service.

I get you're coming from a good place on this, but, like, that's what character arcs are. That's what drama does. That's basically the entire point of all writing and storytelling. Don't look at it from a place of "well, what's logical cause of the five years." Look at the choice
