This is going around a lot today. Yes. It is a perfect answer. It's also an insanely flippant question to ask someone who lost their partner and daughter. I can't believe Colbert really did that. He had to be unaware? And at the same time, how are unaware with that in a guest? https://twitter.com/misslaneym/status/1127281519951863809 …

Colbert lost his father and two brothers when he was young. I'm gonna go with innocent intentions here. Colbert is one of the good ones.

For the love of god this is not about someone being a good or bad one. We can talk about a bad moment without it being a reflection of their overall purity of goodness. Why do people always do this?

Whoa, ok, relax. You’re right that was kinda poorly worded. I was at work. My badly-conveyed point was that any perceived insensitivity on the part of Colbert is (IMO) innocent and Q’s about death are things he doesn’t shy away from due to his personal tragedies.

"whoa, ok, relax" is the least helpful thing to say to someone when you want to find common ground, bub.

If he opened with "for the love of god" would you have the same reaction?

We’ve let this be, but to me “for the love of god” is about the point itself. Telling someone to “relax” well you can google the context of that term for yourself if its not obvious.

I was going to let it be as well, but since we're here, lets talk about word choice. In text, unlike vocal conversations, there's no emotional context until it's deliberately written. One has every opportunity to craft the message before hitting send.

Hulk chose to use “for the love of god” in response. That's a choice. It's a deliberate escalation. It's designed to convey Hulk's anger/exasperation at my tweet. It's designed to say “This idea is so dumb & it makes me so angry. People should know that and pay attention.”
