I gotta be honest. The carefully strategized queerbaiting coming out of the MCU has been bothering me forever. Filmmakers / artists within it have pushed and pushed and they've only approved early 90s PG-ification. It's hard to get excited about a company that's dragged its heelshttps://twitter.com/TATG_Kairi/status/1127475679056949249 …

Is it really because of China, tho? Like are there specific policies over there about this?

I am well aware of the situation in China for homosexuals, I lived in China for some years. I mean the Chinese film industry/foreign film approvals board. Have they been explicit about banning content or is this just an assumption like the bones in videogames thing?

Yeah, american films have to cut all their explicit LGBT content to exhibit there.

Still think "China made us do it" is the execs convenient excuse to avoid loosing Western white dudebros/other bigots money.

there's an overlap, for sure, but I cannot overstate how much NOT EXHIBITING = a loss of 20 mil guaranteed. These corps dont fuck around

Yep. I know. But wouldn't a cut of scenes would be equally possible? They do it for other films...

Replying to @ambrevale @FilmCritHULK and
Bohemian Rhapsody released in China, execs just use it as an excuse. They'd just cut out that content there
