Whoa, ok, relax. You’re right that was kinda poorly worded. I was at work. My badly-conveyed point was that any perceived insensitivity on the part of Colbert is (IMO) innocent and Q’s about death are things he doesn’t shy away from due to his personal tragedies.

Yes, I get your point about pre-interviews before the show to figure out this shit, which Colbert has stated he rarely does, but I don’t think just because a person has had a tragedy in their past that the subject of death is automatically off-limits.
