Jumping in to ask isn't part of this bc that's how comic books are? You can't have meaningful character change bc the series would end & they're designed to continue.

This is part of their fundamental misunderstanding: comics run ad infinitum. The space of storytelling in movies is much more condensed and you can fill it with much more meaningful change. Cause in the end, all these movies haven't even covered 2 seasons of TV time.

The movies DO have meaningful character change, and a conclusion. How has the new movie not demonstrated that to you?? Tony Stark went from being selfish to heroic to sacrificial to worried to guilty to desperate to broken. That is real, specific character change.

And it literally happened at the end of the first avengers and they been wheel spinning since. Stop this.

Avengers ended with him being willing to sacrifice himself. Then in Iron Man 3 he had PTSD over that. In Age of Ultron, he was haunted by the looming threat and tried to create a robot army that could protect the world. Then the aftermath of that caused guilt.

Guilt led him to betray the other Avengers in Civil War, becoming the villain. That rift led to the events in Infinity War, leading to more guilt and loss. Real character changes with real consequences.

He's been haunted since the end of the first Avengers, hasn't changed much since, all his actions since have been based on that. Iron Man 3 had him destroy his suits, that was progress...then he remade them. Progress undone.

He was frantically making suits so that he could personally defend the Earth. He destroyed them and then tried making automated suits instead. Then AI, which backfired. Then guilt over that decision. The the Sokovia Accords. All character changes in response to that threat.
