Hard to disagree with that. The recent ones have been solid, but no more. Hoping the space this film creates allows newer/lesser characters room for braver choices.

Avengers ended with him being willing to sacrifice himself. Then in Iron Man 3 he had PTSD over that. In Age of Ultron, he was haunted by the looming threat and tried to create a robot army that could protect the world. Then the aftermath of that caused guilt.

Guilt led him to betray the other Avengers in Civil War, becoming the villain. That rift led to the events in Infinity War, leading to more guilt and loss. Real character changes with real consequences.

I don’t get the “amnesiac” insult. I’m listing the character progression in successive movies; you’re the one who seems to have forgotten any character beats past the end of Avengers.
