What to say about Endgame without really spoiling? All the ways it works are utter proof of how good and meaningful Phase One was and utter proof of how meaningless, purposeless, and wheel-spinning the rest was, *especially* the last few entries...

(to be very clear, I'm not talking about the quality of Black Panther, Guardians 2, or Ragnorok... I'm talking about how basically all these movies end up playing into the larger "story")

I disagree, at least regarding Ragnarok. That one was huge for Endgame

The whole film was about Thor's planet and people, just to kill them off screen in the opening seconds of Infinity War?

I understand the argument that they're "like comic books." But movies aren't comic books. They're movies. I'll dip my toes into the MCU for certain big ticket movies, but I typically skip them because I don't like movies that are "half stories."

I don't really see them as half-stories, almost all of them at the very least tell their own contained things, the worst they do is carry over mcguffins and shit

It's how I felt too. Like, all these movies tend to be a mix of their own thing but also clearly setting up pieces for future movies and franchise plans. Endgame definitely leaned more into the latter.

I agree. I was going through a list of films I thought somebody should watch before seeing Endgame and from Phase 3 it was maybe Civil War and Spider-man (if you want a better feel for where Stark is at) and reading the Wikipedia page for Ant-man and The Wasp.

I just feel exhausted by this series at this point. I saw Infinity War, but I have such little interest in Endgame for some reason. It's unfortunate, and I feel like I would get attacked for this sentiment. I'm just done.

You have no interest? Move on. Stop coming up on some thread about Endgame to say you have no interest in the movie.

I genuinely can't tell if this is a serious comment.
