The abiding theme of GTA5 is that caring about anything is dumb and worthy of derision and the only traits worth celebrating are cynicism and nihilism It's a nasty, mean-spirited, ugly game and tbh deserves way more criticism than it got

How about Trevor in that game? Not one redeeming quality. Just awful to play as.
-
They see all that as the point and then brush it off with excuses like "he IS the gameplay!" but I still don't get anything out of it really. It's ultimately gibberish. Which is ok I guess, but 100 hours of gibberish is... a lot.

What are some games that you think tell good stories?
-
The Last of Us, Witcher games, Gone Home, Mass Effect series, Ocarina, RDR1, new God of War, and basically the entire Final Fantasy series and other classic JRPGS

Thanks Hulk for touting the "Rockstar has lost it," I find myself disagreeing with you more and more but GTA5 and RDR2 had so many problems and no one is talking about them honestly.

I completely disliked Michael and Trevor's story, and Franklin could have had an interesting class narrative but they didn't go that route at all. He was an accessory to the two white psychopaths.

Yeah I like four more or less, and there's a lot that works. Bissell had a great piece on it though which was really prescient in describing what five would become.
