You are such a great fit for Polygon. Looking forward to reading this. I feel like I forgave a lot of RDR2's problems for kinda superficial reasons.

SO GOOD. Captures so much of what I felt playing it. I kept coming back to how much stronger the whole thing would've been if it had started with the gang at their best, doing a perfect heist, and THEN showed the descent into ruin instead of... starting and staying there

I’m embarrassingly pleased with myself for getting a screenshot of your blank user page Thursday morning.pic.twitter.com/gvM5JXJVQv

The Dark Souls section reaffirms my conviction that you should play Celeste if you haven’t — clear controls, struggle and hard-won progress against clear challenges, good instruction in level mechanics, AND a thoughtful and intensely empathetic story about depression.

So, so, so, SO good. RDR2 is possibly the most maddening game I've ever played. It's gorgeous, lovingly crafted, and exhaustively considered feeling while also managing to be one of the clunkiest games I've ever played.

Is the form/length/verbosity of this article a meta-commentary?

this is a great piece that I, so far, can’t relate to at all. you’re clearly not wrong about anything, but I dunno, I memorised the controls and inputs in like, less than a day? so it’s hard for me to agree that they’re so terrible, even though objectively I get it

and your complaints about the realism are all about things that personally made me feel so much more immersed in the world. it’s a series of excellent arguments, for sure. just not ones that I personally agree with.
