Its a known practice for some oscarbait movies to do the limited theatrical just run to qualify for nomination and use the Oscar buzz as marketing for a post Oscar release. That's no more "respectable" than Roma's release, but Spielberg was silent about that practice.

W/both Spielberg's comments and, before that, Cannes' spiteful treatment, including the disgusting behavior at the OKJA screening, I'm not pissed on behalf of Netflix. I get pissed because, intentionally or not, it's spitting in the face of the people who made the movies.
