A lot of people are sharing the suicide hotline for military veterans. To be clear, this is good and I have no problem with it. However, the truth is that hotlines are only really effective with people having their first thoughts, not people dealing with long-term thoughts.

I hate to say it, but barely any one uses them after the second call. Cause they're mostly full of diversionary tactics and grounding exercises. And to really get at the heart of healing and dealing with PTSD, you truly need longer and more in depth therapy options.

VA hospitals are well-trained, but there are so many people living far away from them. Besides, even stepping into a VA can even be a triggering event for a lot of vets, which can complicate matters intensely.
