And I'm really just trying to be straight-forward about the text of this movie. It doesn't want to confront anything, nor say anything coherent about it. It's a mixed message nightmare.

I agree and disagree! The way Raimi handles the class and relationship struggles in SM 1 & 2 is straight-forward with the text, but it reduces Peter to only a couple of key characteristics, mostly that being Spier-Man sucks and he will always be poor and alone.

I hear what you're saying. I just felt Peter's otherness due to class in ways that were subtle and surprising for what was unspoken. But I admit that's not what the film's actually about in any real sense. And perhaps it's too backgrounded by other stuff to matter.

The film, like most of the other MCU films, is mostly about jokes and punching. Maybe the class stuff doesn't add up to much more than window dressing.
