he’s probably referring to the whole schedule draining season where you spend months pretending you know what goes into producing a movie as opposed to just letting them live as kids and enjoy the brief summer or few months they did for fun.

I understand the sentiment... but Elsie Fisher in EIGHTH GRADE deserves serious recognition for that performance. I don't care how old you are, to pull that out for the camera is a tremendous achievement.

If you understand the sentiment, you understand the validity of the point. The award circuit is simply not the way to do that. It is simply bad for the person.
