Boston: PRO: my bar bill was 22 dollars. CON: I had to sit next to the most racist, sexist, homophobic assholes on the planet... Yeah fuck that, I miss LA a lot.

We Bostonians wear our darkness, LA natives hide it in public because of course they do.

People who don't know LA think strangers who are friendly are faking it, like it's a con job. But it's not. Also, it's nicer when people are nice, even if it is just letting you merge.

Do you still get Irish nationalists collecting for 'the cause' in the pubs of Boston? Almost as if the carnage at Omagh and Enniskillen is unknown to patrons there.

when I lived up there I was surprised by some racism I heard and how they felt superior for never visiting the south

I’m a queer woman who lived in Boston for six years, and worked at the ACLU there. I’ll always remember it as both the general area w. The first black lesbian mayor (Cambridge, ofc), and where a gay dude friend got beaten half to death in the same year.

My friend was a gay dude and a doctor, he got the shit kicked out of him walking home from a club. I never felt fully safe being out in Boston because of that.
