something i missed about the midwest is how often you overhear the sentence "oh gosh, look at that cake" (the word "cake" can be swapped out with "pie" or really any other baked item)
first q: why has an entire section of the country embraced unspecificity?

honestly yes, or at least the likelihood of one being pulled out of an oven nearby is very high wherever you may be
