Do you know why lots of Millenials watch things on their phones? Because they're poor and phones are expensive (yet absolutely critical to their life experience) so apologies for the fact they can't own big TVs, or often even laptops.

“let alone having a good place to put one”
Though, I will happily point to my 8 year old, was cheap back then LCD TV that still serves me well. 32” of oldie tech! The value of a TV is the image. No need for “expensive” things that add value. Be happy with what you have

I thin Hulk is talking about things like a cable subscription, a DVD/Bluray player or a laptop. Not expensive things that add vaule but the things most non-millennials use a TV for. You need somewhere for the TV picture to come from us you just watch terrestrial channels.
