I spend a weird amount of time thinking about how people accept stock conventional wisdom even in the face of stark obviousness. Even with something as simple as the now-conveniently forgotten Greg Oden vs. Kevin Durant debate.

You could just watch the two of them and see the smoothest most complete scorer in years and a gangly, slow, awkward big dude who didn't even have good ball feel.

This applies to movies all the time, too with regards to what will and won't work and what people think is just "how it is" despite piles of evidence against. And so I just always ask: What are we grasping onto here? What are we really seeing? What are we not seeing? Why?
