I remember screaming about how the choice was so obviously clear and that Oden was already broken down THEN, but people kept spouting nonsense conventional wisdom about how you can't win without a dominant big man (which hadn't been true since the 80s).

You could just watch the two of them and see the smoothest most complete scorer in years and a gangly, slow, awkward big dude who didn't even have good ball feel.

This applies to movies all the time, too with regards to what will and won't work and what people think is just "how it is" despite piles of evidence against. And so I just always ask: What are we grasping onto here? What are we really seeing? What are we not seeing? Why?
