McCain The Politician was an inherent contradiction. He chose Palin on a reckless whim but then was one of the only people to try and keep her populism in check. He purported to be an aisle crosser, and yet he presided over one of the more racist, backwards states in the nation.

This isn't the eulogy at his funeral. This a discussion of the man's complex, contradictory, and often very harmful legacy. And you better be ready to talk about that w/r/t public figures. Otherwise you whitewash history itself in the very moment.

The most harmful part of his legacy was at the very end, by ending his treatment right on time to get Kavanaughs 51st vote on the Senate, knocking reeling Trump off headlines in last week before hearings & making it even easier to confirm his/the GOPs savior & cripple rest of us
