McCain The Politician was an inherent contradiction. He chose Palin on a reckless whim but then was one of the only people to try and keep her populism in check. He purported to be an aisle crosser, and yet he presided over one of the more racist, backwards states in the nation.

Considering I’m a Democrat who lives in Arizona, perhaps you should keep your remembrances to things you actually know about.

Well, as another fellow Democrat/Independent who lives in Arizona I think HULK’s critique is spot on. He needs no support from me but McCain is an honorable war hero, however his policy decisions and ambitions as a politician were fairly craven.

Right, and declaring a state conservative / racist has nothing to do with EVERYONE in the state. It speaks to the majority and the governance. Hell, if I moved just a county to the south I'd be in one of the most racist, backwards areas of california.
