This long-running stereotype is so ridiculously exaggerated. Do you really see vegans get in your face ALL the time? No. We really don't. Instead we see people making jokes about it all the time. There's an absurd difference.

And it shouldn't make you feel bad in turn. They don't inconvenience us. Heck, most are chill as hell about it. My vegan friends will even still favorite my meat pictures on instagram. This is so overwhelmingly my experience.

So what's really goin on here, folks? Are vegans really *that* annoying to you? If so, WHY do you think that is? What's really bothering you? Cause I can assure you we're more annoying to them then they are to us.

And in the end, they're doing something of tremendous willpower than I can't do. So I look up to them the same way I look up to anyone supremely committed to genuine loving ethics.

And if you insist I'm wrong, that "no way hulk, vegans are sooooo annoying!" but I want you to seriously take time and reflect on how it really is. Because I think you've just brought into the wrong narrative.

Remember, you don't have to be a vegan. But we've really got to be so much better about how we regard vegans on the pop culture level. Especially because, in the end, you're the ones who can't shut up about them. END RANT.

Quick little adding note! There are absolutely some hugely important valid discussions when it comes to the way being vegan intersects with class / culture / racism - this rant was just about the larger popular way the notion itself treated with ugliness. Thanks + cheers!

I think this is it. Veganism/vegetarianism is demonstrably good in terms of both health and environmental impact. Non-vegans are incentivised to convince themselves that it's worthy of derision because the alternative is to reckon with the fact that their lifestyle is less-
-
-ethical, for no other reason than "It's hard" or "I like meat too much". I say this as a vegetarian who has to acknowledge that veganism is better, but I just like eggs, milk and pizza too much.

There is not enough water in enough places or sufficient infrastructure for every person to be vegan. Many people live in (literal, not food) deserts, where veganism is impractical and actually NOT the environmentally friendly choice.
-
And THIS POINT is why Vegans and Veganism is threatening - this "matter-of-fact" claim that they are ethically superior, environmentally superior, any given adjective you choose superior, which people who aren't even vegan grant them a priori.
