Public School ELA teacher here who values art & culture and does my best to impart their importance to my students. I loved the random dig at me!

I’m not in the minority. Confronted with a love person, you chose just to validate me personally but reaffirm the insult generally. I’m not feeling the appreciation, to be honest.

Hi. Sean. The thing you do not realize is that your original statement about public school, along with saying that you still believe all us naysayers are in the minority, is stunning ignorance, especially w/r/t to the actual problems facing public schools.

There is no crisis of passion and purpose in public schools, instead there is a crisis of financial backing, largely brought on by the same disbelief in their value which you are currently embodying.

So go ahead and be polite and say you mean no offense. The problem is that your ideas, assumptions, and believe are not only offensive to my core, they are miseducated and hurting people. And if you don't believe me, believe the legions of people piling on here.

Believe me, it's no fun when the internet piles on you. But when it happens, it's usually because they are right. And instead of getting defensive, understand this is a teachable moment about the thing you falsely believe.

Because from your experience, you still somehow take that to make disparaging comments about people who went to public school, inherently implying that private school is the only way to circumvent their problems and be cultured.
