Hi. This is incredibly insulting. If it's not essential, never watch a movie or a tv show or listen to a song or play a video game again. See how it feels. Deal?https://twitter.com/Ian_Fisch/status/1022999063690727424 …

You’ve completely misinterpreted his comment & blown it out of context. His point was there isn’t a true monopoly cuz anyone can create a movie & distribute it thanks to advances in tech & the internet. That oversimplifies but he’s not overly familiar with industry so it’s ok

Hi. I can tell you for a damn fact that anyone cannot just create a movie and distribute it. That is comically false assumption and ignorant of cost. And you just said that it's okay to be wrong to just make statements about something you are unfamiliar about. It is not okay.

Well I did phrase it in the form of a question, for what it's worth. Also by "anywhere" I wasn't implying groups with zero budget. I was talking about independent films created all around the world.

Almost every single film has to eventually go through a distributor, which is owned by those same corporations. They're only independent until they're bought. For example, fox distributes all their "indies" through fox searchlight, etc.

Even then, most of their movies aren't even bought now just developed in house. Indie films are basically just studio movies that aren't designed to be blockbusters.

And understand, my being upset wasn't about your curiosity about this part, it was the second part where you essentially shrugged off an entire industry as non-essential, a notion I take great issue with for obvious reasons.
