I'm not sure why more people aren't scared sh*tless over the notion of one huge corporation controlling our culture. That's where our kids learn about early ideas of what's right and wrong, and who to idolize. That's a ton of power.

entertainment in general is actually a segment recognized by the law on both state and federal levels in various forms. If it's essential enough for legislature to recognize it in certain aspects, it's essential, period.

You’ve completely misinterpreted his comment & blown it out of context. His point was there isn’t a true monopoly cuz anyone can create a movie & distribute it thanks to advances in tech & the internet. That oversimplifies but he’s not overly familiar with industry so it’s ok

Yes that was my point. I feel like anyone can create the next Star Wars or the next X-Men, so it's not like Disney can price-fix entertainment the way that companies like ATT and Verizon can price-fix mobile service. But perhaps there's something I'm missing.
