I rest as much as I can. If that fails, I play a videogame mindlessly. It might not feel good, but it gets ME out of those phases

I find elevated exposure to The Muppet Show to be beneficial in similar circumstances.

Go outside your normal pleasures. I've had this problem, and while I don't think I've completely fixed it, I've found trying new things helps. A lot of people told me - no joke - knitting helps a lot.

I’d back that up. Knitting is a relatively easy, mindless, repetitive act, but you produce something at the end of it, and that can be really helpful

I try to find something familiar to analyze. A movie, show, or book I know won't make things worse that I can use to keep my mind occupied by overthinking about. I'm currently doing that with DS9 right now.

It help keep me occupied while I wait for it to pass and it helps kick start motivation sometimes by giving me something to do,even if it's writing something I'll never publish anywhere.

Allow yourself it. I often find that only when I accept it and allow it to be, I regain control again.
