I enjoyed TLJ but I didn’t know about this take on it (the correct take) and it has made me appreciate RTJ and TLJ a lot more

You know A New Hope’s ending hinges on Luke having faith in The Force, right? His entire arc is about learning to get out of his own way and open himself to a spiritual world. It wasn’t a gimmick, if was the protagonist’s entire journey.

There's a really good quote I cannot for the life of me find along the lines of "every American action film is about a man refusing to use violence until their enemy is so violent they give in and use violence, making every film with this plot about a man failing to be good".

When you get into this, you actually can appreciate the prequels more. For all his positive qualities Obi-Wan - one of the Jedi's foremost warriors - decides in ROTS Anakin can never be redeemed and believes that for 20 years, even after his own death. Understandable, but wrong.

Good thing George doesn't control the series anymore cause he'd see this thread and go edit it to do the showing mercy ending

[Luke looks at his hand, looks at Vader’s severed hand, grimace is changed to a wry smirk via CGI] Luke [ADR voice]: Just so you know, father, I’m doing this out of mercy. I could totally kill you with my superior lightsaber skills right now. Palpatine: [chuckles] Fucking cuck.

Not to sound like a dick, but how was this not clear to everyone right from the start?? Luke has never been Superman, he barely gets out of those movies as a hero at all. isn’t that why people like him? Because he’s flawed and relatable, despite the powers?
