I’m never going to change a mind about this. I know it. But in a show that was ENTIRELY bittersweet and filled with shitty people that didn’t feel like a bold close. I have less and less patience with shows about people who are dicks because that’s supposed to be more interesting

Yeah what people miss or gloss over when I express my Don gripe is that I at no point say the show poorly realized his character or that it’s exploration of its chosen themes was sub par. I’ve actually NEVER said that, because that would be crazy.

Your point about existing alongside certain miseries is really my bottom line here. This is a kind of misery where the cost of experiencing that character heavily outweighs the benefits of the show’s many other aspects for me.

I also feel strongly that giving a program the college try and then walking away from it because it didn’t appeal to you does not invalidate ALL feelings you have about it.

Speaking as the guy who literally wrote the book on MAD MEN, anyone can walk away from any work of art at any time and for any reason.
