Wanna know why the Rey parentage story isn't going away despite the emphatic answers? 1. Because JJ doesn't know how to set up actually story turn. He literally said his plan was also for her parents to be "nobodies." This was always the plan. But the problem is...

And yet no one ever thinks of the ugly association, or worse, they absolutely do. END RANT.

I think the subversion of exactly this is one of the reasons why I also loved Blade Runner 2049.

The coolest part about the last jedi was it cemented what force awakens was kinda hinting at. The force isnt some dynastic power saved for those worthy few. Anyone can be called on to step up and save the galaxy. Your parents dont matter, your actions do.

((But also I'm not an old-school SW fan, so I like that this SW is different))

The "need" for Rey' s kinship is the weirdest complaint that I've seen repeated. The entire Jedi Council was made up of "non Skywalkers". Jedi aren't supposed to procreate. Anikan's "special royal blood" is an anomaly. I love Rey having to choose who she is.

You familiar with the Chronicles of Prydain? Heritage and prophecy are a big thread, but the end it's said the prophecy was properly "some nobody could do this", and "the deeds of a man, not the words of a prophecy, are what shape his destiny".
