I think all of those are about the same thing, oddly enough. Which is the simple left-brained "logical" approach of dude bros to storytelling without realizing what they're really after is naked indulgent gratification from stories that cater to their power fantasy.

It's all about how divorced they are to their feelings. Because they watch craving a vicarious experience, when something makes them feel bad or unfulfilled it is so visceral to them it reads as OBJECTIVELY BAD. But they literally have no idea what's going on with them.

I hate to say this, because I still stand by them, problematic jokes notwithstanding, but we can blame the Plinkett Prequels review for this.

Oh this was going on a lot longer before that. And yeah, the plinkett things still had some good exercises. I still use the "describe characters without saying their job, look, etc" trick to help.
