Understood. What I don’t understand, is why he pivoted on everything. IMO, the audience wanted answers to so many things, and to see (our childhood hero as you said) act like a hero in the process. Feels like I didn’t receive anything, personally

Disclaimer: I’m not mad at anyone for liking the Last Jedi :) Maybe he is a good writer, he did ok on BB and Looper. Not sure his “bold” storytelling was the best fit for SW. The franchise is too established. I’m sure there were ways to please all/most fans, he did not deliver
